History

Next Act Theatre is a strong, vibrant, financially stable company that produces a four-play season of contemporary drama. The company is particularly noted for its excellence in acting, "Up-Close-and-Personal" performance style, and for a varied and consistently interesting choice of plays, chosen from the best new works and off-Broadway hits.

Next Act has mounted 68 main-stage productions, including 51 area premieres and five original scripts. 2007-2008 marks the 18th season and the eighth year producing in the intimate Off-Broadway, Next Act Theatre's home in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward. The Off-Broadway is a unique theatre space in Milwaukee where the audience is closely wrapped around three sides of the action and no seat is further than six rows from the stage.
