Next Actors: Summer Theatre for Teens
Every summer Next Act sponsors a six-week playwriting and performance program free-of-charge to a select group of Milwaukee area teenagers of diverse cultural, ethnic, racial and economic backgrounds. With the guidance of professional teaching artists, students will create their very own original theatre piece, rehearse it and then tour the finished production.
This year Next Actors will be offered from June 20 through July 27, 2013. The first three weeks consist of improvisation exercises, brainstorming sessions, idea development, movement and music workshops. Weeks four and five are spent writing and rehearsing, and during week six, Next Actors will tour their production to area schools, senior centers and community organizations, culminating with a final benefit performance on Saturday, July 27, 2013.
Auditions are open to all Milwaukee area high school students (freshmen in fall 2013 to graduating seniors). Auditions are scheduled, by appointment, May 18 and 19, at Next Act Theatre, 255 S.
